SN65LVDS31: Looking for max junction temp

Part Number: SN65LVDS31

Hi,

I'm looking at part numbers SN65LVDS31PW and SN65LVDS32PW and I don't seem to see the maximum junction temperature. I see a max operating temp of 85C, but I'm not sure if this is referencing the max junction temperature or the maximum case temperature. Oftentimes, maximum operating temperatures don't correspond to maximum junction temperatures, as junctions can go to higher levels. Seeking clarification if the operating temperature for these two is indeed the max junction temp. Thanks!

  • Hey Benjamin,

Generally with our LVDS devices, we say the absolute max junction temperature is 150C.

I looked up the thetaJA value for SN65LVDS31PW which shows 110.1C/W. Using the table in the datasheet shows that at 402mW, the device's junction temperature would be about 130C (402mWx110C/W+85C ambient). This would give us the max operating junction temperature. Doing the same thing for the SN65LVDS32PW (the theta JA number is in the datasheet here and also shows 402mW at 85C ambient) gives us similar results. Max operating junction is about 130C.

For for both devices, recommended max junction is 130C and absolute max would be 150C.
