TUSB320: Inquiry for current control thru CC1, CC2.

Part Number: TUSB320

Hi, TI support team

My customer asked product that is possible for current control thru CC1, CC2.

TI product is TUSB320.

Operating senario that he want to design is below.

- USB A(Adaptor) to USB type-C(Device) : Charging under 2.0A

- USB type-C(Adaptor) to USB type-C(Device) : Charging 3.0A

When using CC control, is it possible to control to change only the current?

Do I need to change the voltage through CC control?

Charger is a product that has an input range of 13V.

From what I've searched, it seems that the TUSB320 product is possible, but if there is a suitable product, please recommend it.

Thanks.

Regards,

MJ

  • Hi MJ,

The TUSB320 can set the current mode through CC1/2 with options for 900mA, 1.5A, and 3A. This would only change the current, and not the voltage on VBUS.

A CC controller like the 320 is a simple device that can only support 5V on the type-C VBUS. If you need a higher voltage, I can refer you to the PD controller team.

Just to clarify, are you making a device with a type-C port that receives power from a type-C charger as in the diagram below?
