TUSB216-Q1: TUSB216-Q1 What impact do DC boost, Edge boost, RX sensitivity on the Eye diagrams

Part Number: TUSB216-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TUSB212, TUSB216

Hi team,

What impact do DC boost, Edge boost, RX sensitivity on the Eye diagrams?

Could you explain the range of signal enhancement when DC boost, Edge boost and RX sensitivity are set to the highest level?

For example, how much mV can be increased at the highest level, how much pS the rise time can be accelerated, and other parameters.

Thanks

Xiaoxiang

  • Hi Xiaoxiang,

DC Boost affects the levels of VHigh and VLow in an eye diagram, the upper and lower max voltage levels of the eye diagram. AC Boost affects the rising and falling edge of the eye, giving the eye diagram more clearance by increasing the rise time. RX Sensitivity helps to compensate for inter-symbol interference (ISI) jitter, which tends to be more present at longer cable lengths, and can help to improve the vertical opening of the eye.

We do not have any spec for amount of gain for RX_SEN or mV increase with DC Boost for the TUSB216, we do have values for the TUSB212 with DC Boost, which maxes out at 80mV at level 3, but these values may not be accurate for the TUSB216.

For AC Boost, these are the values we have:

    AC Boost at 240MHz (typ)

    Boost 0: 3.0 dB
    Boost 1: 3.5 dB
    Boost 2: 4.7 dB
    Boost 3: 5.2 dB

Please let me know if there are any other questions!

    Thanks,

    Ryan
