hello expert:

our use  case is 954 fpd-link iii 4Gbps, power over coax to camera side .

what is the maximum current capability over the POC ?

    Hello Zongtao,

    Maximum current is primarily limited by the PoC passives selection rather than the SERDES. We have solutions for supporting up to ~1.2A of PoC current, however most practical designs typically use currents <500mA and go to higher voltage in order to support increased power since the size/cost of passives to support larger current increases significantly

    hello Casey:

    thank for your reply .Got it ~i had studied that most of the power supply design used the  boost +power switch ,other question is 954 datasheet describe the POC noise must be kept to 10mVp-p, it is very strict requirement for the power supply ,what is your point of view about this ?

    Zongtao,

    It is critical that the noise from PoC does not interfere with the high speed FPD-Link signal since the receiver has high sensitivity and when working with long cable lengths, the received far end signal can be quite low amplitude. 10mVpp is the spec for the noise measured at the pins of the deserializer after the PoC filtering network. It is typically achievable with proper filter selection and reasonable power delivery requirements. We recommend to stick with the PoC networks given in the datasheet for best performance, but if there is a need for networks with a higher current level or other requirements such as size/component count we also have worked with a number of vendors to develop other approved solutions which we could share directly to you as well
