DS90UB954-Q1: Inquiries regarding DS90UB954-Q1 (Deserializer)

Part Number: DS90UB954-Q1

Hi, TI experts

The customer would like to review DS90UB954-Q1 (Deserializer) for equipment connected to a camera equipped with DS90UB913 (serializer).
Regarding that, I have a few questions.

Q1) When the video format of DS90UB913 (serializer) is YUV422, is it compatible between DS90UB954-Q1 (Deserializer)?

Q2) Is it possible to check whether the FPD Link is maintained even if one of FPD Link A and Link B of DS90UB954-Q1 (Deserializer) is open?

Q3) Is it possible to output FPD Link A and Link B video streaming of DS90UB954-Q1 (Deserializer) to 1port MIPI CSI port?

Q4) Can you provide a Hardware Design & validation Guide for FPD Link III? (link margin, return loss, impedance measurement method, etc.)

Q5) Can you provide the initial setting value between DS90UB954-Q1 (Deserializer) of DS90UB913 (serializer) according to the specified video format?

Q6) Can you additionally provide Power Over Coax’s 2 port protection IC product lineup? (Currently reviewing ADI MAX20088)

Please check. Thank you.

  • Hello Grady,

Q1) When the video format of DS90UB913 (serializer) is YUV422, is it compatible between DS90UB954-Q1 (Deserializer)?

    Yes, it is compatible.

Q2) Is it possible to check whether the FPD Link is maintained even if one of FPD Link A and Link B of DS90UB954-Q1 (Deserializer) is open?

Each RX port has it's own Link status registers which can be checked individually.

Q3) Is it possible to output FPD Link A and Link B video streaming of DS90UB954-Q1 (Deserializer) to 1port MIPI CSI port?

Yes this is possible. The UB954 has just a single CSi-2 TX port.

Q4) Can you provide a Hardware Design & validation Guide for FPD Link III? (link margin, return loss, impedance measurement method, etc.)

for design and validation you need to follow the datasheet limits and specs such as noise, power consumption, jitter, eye-diagram, insertion-loss and return-loss...etc

Q5) Can you provide the initial setting value between DS90UB954-Q1 (Deserializer) of DS90UB913 (serializer) according to the specified video format?

Not sure what do you mean by initial setting value according to the specified video format.

Q6) Can you additionally provide Power Over Coax’s 2 port protection IC product lineup? (Currently reviewing ADI MAX20088)

You may check this device or this device.

  • Hi, Hamzeh

This is additional explanation to the question in Q5 above. Please confirm.

Q5) Can you provide the initial setting value between DS90UB954-Q1 (Deserializer) of DS90UB913 (serializer) according to the specified video format?

    (Hamzeh said)

Not sure what do you mean by initial setting value according to the specified video format.

    additional explanation

→ After connecting the FPD Link III Link in the application processor, the internal registers of the Serializer & Deserializer must be set for video transmission.

→ For example, with the Serializer, tasks such as configuring the specified video format (YUV422, RAW8, RAW12) and changing the Serializer's Chip ID are necessary.

As for the Deserializer, it involves configuring the designated video format (YUV422, RAW8, RAW12) and setting up MIPI output based on the A/B Link connection, among other considerations.

→ Additional examples are as shown below.

    Please check. Thank you.

  • Hello Grady,

The only video format based setting is needed on the DES. If 10-bit mode is used on the SER, then program reg 0x70 on the DES with the correct value. If 12-bit mode is used on the SER, then program reg 0x71 on the DES with the correct value. The correct register value for each data type can be found on the MIPI standard specs. For example :
