TUSB2E22: eUSB host and peripheral controllers recommended

Part Number: TUSB2E22

I would like further information on the test setup used to validate the TUSB2E22 as a host repeater and peripheral repeater.

In other words, I would like to know what is the eUSB host controller and peripheral controller used in the validation setup.

We are planning to procure the TUSB2E22EVM-CAT to test our R&D modules. We would prefer to replicate the setup used by TI if possible to ensure we have a known good setup to start with for the repeaters.

Thanks,

Venkat

  • Dear customer,

I am following up on this issue. However, the relevant engineer is out of the office and you can expect a response to your thread by Jan 2nd.

    Thank you.

  • Hello Venkat,

There are relatively few eUSB controllers and devices, which ones are you considering?

Our validation setup may be confidential.  Let me check internally to see if we're allowed to share that information, and I will follow up.

    Regards,

    Nicholaus

  • Hi Nicholaus,

    Thanks for your response.

We would prefer to use the eUSB controllers and devices that TI is using for these repeaters though we are looking at the other options available (Synopsis, Qualcomm and NXP).

We are already in the process of ordering the TI repeaters for our evaluation. Please let me know if you can share details about your validation setup (A eUSB host that can interface with eUSPh and a eUSB device that can interface with eDSPp)

    Thanks,

    Venkat

  • Hi Venkat,

I can't discuss the devices used in our validation as they are confidential, and they are no longer available on the market in either case. The reason why is because this product was the first eUSB repeater in the world, and so the functional validation was done on early-release eUSB controllers and devices.  The TUSB2E22 was developed by engineers that helped write the original eUSB specification with the USB-IF.

Since the it has been tested and used with many different, very popular, eUSB controllers and devices in mass production.  There should be no issues with any option you choose.

I hope this helps.  Also, it may be helpful for you to reach out to your TI field applications engineer to discuss opportunities.  Do you have one?

    Regards,

    Nicholaus

  • Thanks for the information Nicholaus.
