Hello Expert,

The board we designed has the DP83825IRMQT IC to use for the POE application.
We have experienced several incidents where the DP83825IRMQT IC burned as a result of a HOT connection of an RJ45 connector connected to a POE ROUTER (EDS-G205A-4POE).

Below is part of the electronic schematic that describes the connection of the DP83825IRMQT IC to the magnetics and the RJ45 connector.

I would appreciate your help in solving and understanding the problem.

Hi Itamar,

I'm sorry to hear that our DP83825 PHY's are burning out in your design. I took a look at the schematic you provided and didn't immediately see anything wrong with it. Please allow me till the end of next week to consult with my team.

In the mean time, there is a PoE reference design document that may help you.

Hi Itamar,

Thank you for your patience. Unfortunately I am still unsure as to why this is happening. Is this the board that is receiving the power or the one that is supplying it?

Could you also probe power & MDI pins?
