Hi Jack,
The customer wants to increase the speed without changing the layout. Any other recommendations?

Hey Hailiang,
What is the desired data rate that the customer wants to achieve? The current existing I2C buffers in TI portfolio only support up to 1MHz at the moment.
Regards,
Jack
Hi Jack,
The data rate is 1MHz, but they need a P2P alternative with TCA9511A.

Hailiang
Most I²C buffers are level shifters with two power supply pins. There is no faster P2P device.
Hey Hailiang,
Unfortunately, the TCA9617A/B will be the only viable solution at this moment. I have taken note of this feedback for future product developments.

Jack
Hi Jack,
It seems that TCA9617A/B does not have hot swap function? The customer needs the hot swap function to protect I2C hot swapping between the two boards. Do you have other suggestions?
Regards,
Hailiang
Hey Hailiang,
Yes that is correct, the TCA9617A/B will not be able to support hot swap applications. The only I2C hot-swap buffers at the moment are the TCA9511A and the TCA4307. However, both these buffers will not be able to support above 400KHz operation.

Jack
