Hi TCAN4550 Champ

Can you please help us to find linux kernel 4.9.x based device driver for TCAM4550?

We 're able to find out 5.4.x based kernel driver only.

This driver can be used in production. It is supported via the mainline kernel as an update to an existing m_can driver. This process took some time, and so we had previously providedthe driver code to be compiled as a kernel module while discussions/edits continued as requested by the m_can driver maintainer. As of last week this has been resolved, though, hence the support in the 5.4 kernel.

Hi Jack,

Unfortunately the driver was introduced in kernel version 5.4 and backporting to earlier versions would need to be done manually.

The project is for EVSE - Charging System related. The required driver version is based on kernel 4.9.

Hi Jack,

Thanks for the information. This is a support forum for the TCAN4550 device itself and not a Linux support forum. The TCAN4x5x Linux driver is essentially a wrapper around the MCAN driver and it is my understanding that the MCAN driver for kernel 4.9 did not support CAN FD. Most of the rollback effort may actually be with the MCAN driver, but I am not a Linux expert.
