TCAN1043A-Q1: TCAN1043A-Q1 INH AND POWER SUPPLY ENABLE/DISABLE

Part Number: TCAN1043A-Q1

I'm looking to potentially use the TCAN1043A-Q1 INH pin to enable/disable power supply IC's with CAN wake and CAN sleep commands without any intervention from the Host microcontroller.

My understanding is that once I send CAN wake command, the INH pin will go to VBATT, and once the CAN sleep command is sent the INH pin will get a HI-Z state and a pull down resistor will pull it low.  We plan to tie this node to the enable of the front end regulator and use it to enable/disable the power supply. Does TI have any application notes or application recommendations that can show use cases like this?.

  • Bob,

This is the standard use-case for a CAN transceiver with wake and INH. We have some training slides on our Field sharepoint to show an application schematic and explain the process, but no application note specifically written for it. It sounds like the customer has a good understanding of how it works though, so are they looking for timing parameters, examples of a schematic, or something else?

    Regards,
