DS90UB948-Q1: IVI FPD-Link Deserializer Driving AM62P Clock Input

Part Number: DS90UB948-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AM62P

Hi all,

Do you think it's feasible to use a clock output from an IVI FPD-Link device to drive to clock input on our next AM62P processor for automotive display applications? I put the 948 as the target device, but the question is more general than a specific FPD device. It seems like this may not be feasible, but I wanted to put this in front of you as it may be something interesting we can propose as a system advantage if possible.

Here is the processor: www.ti.com/.../AM62P-Q1

  • Hi Derek,

Appreciate the suggestion. The clock outputs from the FPD-Link devices are not intended to be ultra-low jitter like dedicated oscillators and would not be suitable for input to a processor. In addition, the clocks stop and start during initialization/power on which is also not ideal processor applications.

    Best,

    Shu
