DP83867IR: IPG other than 12Byte

Part Number: DP83867IR

Hi Team,

From the post below, I understand that DP83867IR does not support IPG<12Byte.

https://e2e.ti.com/support/interface-group/interface/f/interface-forum/935578/dp83867cr-rgmii-minimum-idle-per-ipg/3459232?tisearch=e2e-sitesearch&keymatch=IPG%25252525E3%2525252580%2525252580DP83867#3459232

1) IEEE 802.3 Section 1: 4.4.2 states that it can be reduced to a minimum of 47BT for 10Mb/s and 64BT for 1Gb/s.
Does this device not support this?

2) Do you support irregular packets(12.5Byte) over 12Byte?

Best Regards,

  • Hello,

Please give me until EoD Tuesday to confirm with team regarding the appropriate circuit.

    Sincerely,

    Gerome

  • Hello,

This device was tested in lab for IPG of 4.7us at 10Mbps link and was shown to have no RX_ERs on Reg 0x15.

The device should be able to support 12.5IPG, but please let us know if design is showing otherwise so we may further discuss.

Regarding statement previously made on E2E, the standard is ambiguous with what the received IPG at the PHY MDI is for 1Gbps. The only constraint is an IPG of 8bytes at the RX lines of the MAC, with the margin from the constrained 12 IPG transmitted from the TX of the sourcing MAC. Thus, DP83867 in 1Gbps is able to support 12 IPG, and in some cases lesser IPG times by adjusting Reg 0x53.

    Sincerely,

    Gerome
