TCA9803: 5.5V up translation version of TCA9803

Part Number: TCA9803
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMP1075, , TCA9517A, TCA9509, TCA9617B, TCA9511A, TCA4307, TCA39416, TCA9406, TCA9416

Hello community,

We have to interface 4 to 5 x TMP1075 sensors with our MCU over a maximum bus length of 5m. This shall be a CAT6 UTP cable with SDA & SCL paired with ground wires.

Kindly suggest if there are any 5.5V version with fall slew rate control as an alternative for the TCA9803. Objective is to utilize relatively higher noise margin offered by 5V bus voltage than 3.3V offered by TCA9803.

The clock signal in this case is a maximum of 2kHz.

  • Hi Neet,

Other devices such as the TCA9517A, TCA9509, TCA9617B are all level-translating I2C buffers that can meet the 5.5V up translation for 2kHz.

    Regards,

    Tyler

  • Hello Tyler,

These are not RTA based buffers - we would like to know if TI has a similar TCA9803 type buffer with slew rate control & RTA of upto 3mA

  • Hi Neet,

TCA980x does not have an RTA. The internal current source (ICS) acts like a pull-up resistor rather than an RTA, and the ICS is used for direction control.

Consider our hot-swap buffers such as the TCA4307 or TCA9511A which incorporate rise-time accelerators.

If you are looking for RTAs in a non-buffered application, TCA9406, TCA9416, and TCA39416 all implement passFET's for level translation, but incorporate RTA's (some FTA's) for up and down transitions.

    Regards,

    Tyler
