    Ray,

    There are no specific current requirements for the VSUP pin. That being said, current-limiting resistors can be placed to protect the pin in the event of a voltage transient. Since the VSUP rail has a very low current requirement, a resistor even as high a 1kohm can be placed in series. Please let us know if you have any other questions.
