DP83869HM: Programming Starp Circuit_2

Part Number: DP83869HM

Document (SNLS614B - SEPTEMBER 2018 - REVISED DECEMBER 2022)

Question 1.
If the 2-Level Strap Resistor Ratio is set to mode 0, isn't the 2.49 kΩ pull-down on the Rlo unnecessary?
Reason.
If set to OPEN, the pull-down inside the DP83869HM would be enabled.
When setting 4-Level Strap Resistor Ratio to mode0, it is OPEN.

Also, in another document (SNLA318-February 2019),
2-Level Strap Resistor Ratio in mode 0 is an OPEN indication.

Question 2.
Is mode0 for the 2-Level Strap Resistor Ratio of the DP83869HM an OPEN? or is it a 2.49 kΩ pull-down?

  • Hi,

    1. Regarding to the 2 level strapping. we recommend to have stronger pull down resistor to make sure the pin is pull down during strap mode. If the pin is default pull down, leaving the pin floating should also be fine.
    2. Yes, they are default mode 0.

  • Hi Hillman

I have received the following answers and would like to ask them again.
”1.Regarding to the 2 level strapping. we recommend to have stronger pull down resistor to make sure the pin is pull down during strap mode.
If the pin is default pull down, leaving the pin floating should also be fine."

    Question 1.
When setting the 4-Level Strap Resistor Ratio to mode 0, RlO is open - is it safe to use it in OPEN?
    Question 2
When setting the 4-Level Strap Resistor Ratio to mode 0, is 2.49 kΩ required for stronger pull-down?
    Question 3
If the 4-Level Strap Resistor Ratio is set to mode 0, which is the best option, question 1 or question 2?
    Question 4
Does the internal configuration of the strap pin IC differ between 4-Level Strap and 2-Level Strap?

    Regards.

  • Hi,

    1. Yes, it is safe to leave it as open is fine
    2. No, 2.49kohms pull is optional
    3. Leaving it open should be fine
    4. The internal pull down resistance between 4-Level strap and 2-level strap are the same.
