TDP142: How to apply short to gnd fault detection based on TDP142?

Hi Teams,

My customer is using TDP142 in their system. Now, their customer has raised a new requirement for the application, that is the system should be able to detect lane short to gnd fault (INDPxp, INDPxn, OUTDPxp, OUTDPxn, to GND), do you have any reference design or concepts to recommend?

Hello, Marsh,

There are no flags internal to the device that would report out if a short to GND were to occur on the I/O.

There would have to be an external monitor and processing system in the system to detect and report out a short. I do not have any reference design or know of any monitoring system concepts that would satisfy the new requirement.

Hi Zach,

Thank you for the reply. DP is using LVDS to transmit the data, so actually, the LVDS short detection should work for DP short issue detection right?

Could you provide more details on how DP is using LVDS to transmit data?

Is there a block diagram or a schematic that I could see how this is being implemented?
