DS90UB953-Q1: Evaluation of DS90UB953 (w. video output)

Part Number: DS90UB953-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ALP, DS90UB954-Q1, DS90UB954-Q1EVM, TDA4VM

Hello all,

I'm looking for a solution with evaluation board or development kit to perfom the initial operation and testing of a camera with DS90UB953 serializer.

Via the support I was already advised to use DS90UB954-Q1EVM board, but I doubt that it is possible with the TI ALP software to see the image captured by camera and transmitted via serializer to DS90UB954-Q1.
Probably DS90UB954-Q1EVM could be a addition to write into the registers of DS90UB953.

Does anybody already have a practical solution in place?

Thanks,
Camille

  • Hi Camille,

The UB953 and UB954 operate by passing through video data. Using the EVM and ALP software, the user can see the line length, line count, and data type of the video data being received in the port specific registers 0x72-0x76.

In order to display what this data is in an image format, an outside component (typically SoC) must be used to read the CSI-2 output from the UB954. One TI example for this end to end bring up is the TDA4VM from the Jacinto team linked here. Additionally, some tools our team uses to check this data includes D-PHY analyzers such as the Introspect.

    Best,

    Zoe
