TUSB216: 1.2 CDP Mode Functionality

Part Number: TUSB216

Hello,

Could you provide more detail about 1.2 CDP mode on the TUSB216? This mode is enabled by setting pin 11 "CDP_ENZ" Low.

It would be helpful if you have any additional documentation for this mode, the datasheet did not have very much technical specification for operation in this mode.

Thank you for the help with this.

Best Regards,
John Albrecht

  • Hi John,

What sort of additional information are you looking for?

The BC 1.2 CDP mode is used to advertise CDP if the host or hub does not provide this functionality already, however it does not actually provide any form of battery charging itself. It is strictly advertisement.

Aside from this, we do not have any additional information for the functionality of the pin.

I can reach out internally and see if there is anymore information I can share.

    Thanks,

    Ryan

  • Hi Ryan,

Thank you for clarifying that this is just an advertisement pin and that it doesn't provide any form of charging. I'm looking for more information about CDP mode itself.

There didn't seem to be any specifications around this operating mode in the datasheet, no tolerances, no measurement conditions, etc. Could you check if we have more information about CDP?

    Best Regards,

  • Hi John,

I reached out internally, and it sounds like we have no additional information on our side. I was told that it follows BC1.2 spec for USB, so I would recommend looking through that if needed.

Please let me know if you have any other questions.

    Thanks,

    Ryan
