Hi TI Team,
For retimer DS110DF111, do we need to write the configuration file whenever the system boots up?
Thanks & regards

Hi Sandra,
Are you using SMBus slave mode or SMBus master mode?
SMBus slave mode: Whenever the retimer is powered off/powered on, the registers will reset to default values. It will be necessary to reconfigure any non-default register settings.
SMBus master mode: Whenever the retimer is powered off/powered on, it will re-read it's configuration from the EEPROM. In this mode, it's not necessary to re-program any register settings as long as the configuration is correctly programmed and saved to the EEPROM.
Best,
Lucas
Thanks for your reply, Lucas!
We are using SMBus slave mode.
Our application is to convert the XFI signal to SFP+ electrical, will the default register values support this conversion?
What will be the default values of the register?
we do not have a master device to support the I2C interface, Is the I2C connection necessary?
Is there any other HW strapping method we can do to configure the register to support the XFI to SFP+ conversion?
Thanks & Regards
Sandra
Hi Sandra,
If your input channels have more than 15 dB of insertion loss, then register control is necessary to modify the CTLE adaptation table and/or adaptation algorithm. Otherwise, default register values will have the following configurations:
Alternatively, this retimer has a pin control mode which allows for limited control of output VOD, de-emphasis, and crosspoint configuration via HW straps.

Lucas
