Hi Seth,

Which jumper configurations have you tested? I am curious to replicate your setup in lab and compare results.

I expect the EVM to work for copper to RGMII with LED[2:0] and OP_MODE[2:0] strapped low via jumpers.

I tried the straps that you listed and still my laptop says “Media Disconnected” when I plug the Ethernet cable into J20

I would think it would see something there even if I didn’t have the straps or registers correct,  right?

Also How can I set it to run at 10 Mb/s only?

To force 10M, disable the advertisements for 100/1000M by writing registers 0x4[8:7] = '00' and 0x8[9:8] = '00'.

ok, how about master / slave settings, do I need to worry about those? 

currently reg 9 reads 1300h so master/slave is enabled but the DP83869 is a slave, I suppose the master is the Ethernet MAC chip, LAN7801 in this case

Either master / slave setting should be acceptable for copper link test to your laptop.

I will confirm and share more details tomorrow.

I got the Ethernet port to work by using the jumper settings on page 2 of the DP83869 Modes doc, but I still can't the clock to run at the 10M rate

I tried setting the test dipswitches (S3) to test mode 6 or 7 from table 13 and I always get flashing red LEDs which means that phy registers did not get programmed, what would cause that?

Have you written registers 0x4[8:7] = '00' and 0x8[9:8] = '00' to force 10M? Depending on the host system, it may be possible to force 10M through the adapter settings as well:

Please share a register dump from 0x0 to 0x1F so I may verify the DP83869 configuration.
