DP83867CS: Hardware strapping

Hi TI Team,

Our application is to convert SGMII signals to 1000Base ETH.

We don't have MDIO/MDC pins available in our design. Can we use hardware strapping in DP83867CS to attain this configuration (SGMIII to 1000Base ETH) as the default configuration?

Is there any reference design available to refer the HW strapping done on DP83867CS?

Can we HW strap to select between Full duplex and half duplex?

Can we HW strap to select the 1000Base speed?

Are there any other parameters that require software configuration for the IC to work after doing the HW strapping?

Hi Sandra,

This is possible through strapping.

DP83867ERGZ-S EVM is a good reference for this.

Enabling auto-negotiation through straps will allow the device to negotiate full duplex 1000M communication with a capable link partner.

Is there any other PHY available within TI with the same features (like the HW strapping option to achieve SGMII to 1000Base by default) but using fewer power supplies?

For DP83867CS 3 Power supplies are required to get 1V, 2.5V and 3.3V.

Hi Sandra,

Unfortunately, there is no comparable PHY that can support fewer power supplies.

However, DP83867CS supports 2.5V VDDIO voltage, and two-supply mode requires 2.5V and 1.1V VDDA rails.

If VDDA and VDDIO share the 2.5V rail, then it is possible to run the device from only two supplies.
