USB PD controller recommendation inquiry

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS25762-Q1, TPS25730

Hi, TI expert

The customer is currently reviewing the development of the LTE Tracker.

Below is the block diagram of the power section of the product under review.

The customer is looking for a USB PD controller in the block diagram above.

I want to read data and charge the built-in battery through the USB Type-C connector. (Battery: Lithium Polymer, 3000mAh, 1C, 1-cell)

According to what I checked on TI.com, it is about TPS25762-Q1 (TPS25762-Q1 data sheet, product information and support | TI.com), and it is an Automotive product.

Is TPS25762-Q1 also suitable?

Is there a USB PD controller that can be recommended as a Non-Auto product? (CC pin must be present)

Please check. Thank you.

  • Hi Grady,

If the customer is wanting to act as a power sink and always draw power to charge the battery, then I think the TPS25730 would be the best device. This is a sink only USB-C PD controller that is resistor configurable. It will automatically negotiate a USB-C PD contract and then pass the voltage to the battery charger
