Kannan,

The junction temperature TJ can be estimated using the formulas listed in table 2 of the application note here.

The thermal metrics measured on the chip for the SOIC package type (D) are listed in table 6.4 of the datasheet.

Hi. The estimation of junction temperature from the resistance is well understood. What is the maximum allowable junction temperature of the chip?

In most cases, maximum junction temperature should never exceed the maximum storage temperature. Usually the TJ(max) spec is less than the Tstorage(max). So using the Tstorage(max) spec (150C) would contain the TJ(max) spec.
