TRS3232E: DB9 question

Part Number: TRS3232E

Hi Team,

We have some question about TRS3232ECPWR.

We find DB9 CNT have two kinds of pin define, which one is correctly?

  1. In our EVM , DB9 pin (female) define below

https://www.ti.com/lit/ug/sllu320/sllu320.pdf?ts=1707200738971&ref_url=https%253A%252F%252Fwww.ti.com%252Fproduct%252Fzh-tw%252FTRS3232E

But from website , it has DB9 female and male pin define.

And then , female pin define is different from our EVM.

Are DB9 female and male pin define different?

Regards,

Roy

  • Hi Roy,

So the resource that you are pulling information from makes the assumption that the DTE in the 232 system always uses a Male DB9 connector - this isn't strictly true as there are male to male and female to female db9 connectors that exist in application.

That being said - the "male" pinout is reflective of how a DTE is wired in a system and this EVM is designed as a DTE w.r.t. to how the DB9 connector is connected - so this EVM is using the standard Male pinout. So if this part is chosen for their system they will need to take care to ensure that the DB9 wiring is connected as they need in their system.

Please let me know if you have any other questions!

    Best,

    Parker Dodson
