DP83869HM: In RGMII to SGMII bridge mode, is it really impossible to use MII instead of RGMII on the MAC side when forcing the SGMII to 100Mbps in the PHY?

Part Number: DP83869HM

Hello,

From this post, it seems that the DP83869HM does not support MII interface on the MAC side in RGMII to SGMII mode:

What happens if the RGMII_MII_SEL bit 0x1DF[5] is set to '1' in the RGMII to SGMII bridge mode?

Thank you.

  • Hi,

Thank you for reaching out for clarification. DP83869PHY support MII interface. From Theoretical standpoint, DP83869PHY should support MII to SGMII bridge mode.

Unfortunately, our EVM cannot bring up this application since it is not a commonly used application. Just want to clarify DP83869PHY should support MII to SGMII bridge mode.

  • Hi Hillman,

I see. The EVM doesn't bring pins 21 and 46 to the header J14 (unpopulated). However, since pin 21 can be accessed at J17 (unpopulated) and pin 46 can be accessed at J4 (populated), do you think that we can validate this by ourselves using the EVM?

    Thanks.
