TCAN1043A-Q1: TCAN1043A-Q1

Part Number: TCAN1043A-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TCAN1043

What are the major design differences between TCAN1043ADMTRQ1 and TCAN1043GDMTRQ1 except for the data rate? Is it a better choice over GQ1 ?

  • Hi Anamika,

The TCAN1043A is made using our most recent manufacturing process and offers advantages in in data rate capability, Vio level support down to 1.8V, and better cost structure and availability, so we would definitely recommend this device for newer designs. The older TCAN1043 (non-A) offers the 'H' variant with ±70V bus fault ratings. For applications that require this specification we continue to support this device, but we do not recommend this for new applications that do not require this high bus fault tolerance.

Let Let me know if you have any more questions.

  • I wanted to know thee functional differences , like are the operating modes , fault flags same ? One difference I noticed is TCAN1044A has SWE timer to enter sleep from stby mode. Is there any other relevant functional difference ? In the existing design we have TCAN1044GDMTRQ1 , so is TCAN1044ADMTRQ1 suitable for as a replacement there functionally ? Sorry , I am a little new to these topics.

  • Sorry , I meant to ask for TCAN1043 in the above as well . (Typing mistake)

  • Hi , In TCAN1043A , When Vsup< UVsup, then it triggers a cold start condition with OWRON ,WAKERQ and WAKERS flags. In TCAN1043G , when Vsup<UVsup , does it also trigger a cold start because , in both the driver , receiver is turned off and rxd and inh is high z.?

  • Hi Anamika,

I have a short presentation that describes all of these small functional differences between the TCAN1043 and TCAN1043A. Can I send this to the email address that you have linked to your E2E profile? I not, please email me at the address linked in my E2E profile which you can access by clicking my name.

Also I wanted to let you know that we currently have a TCAN1043N device is development that is designed to be a direct replacement to TCAN1043 with no functional differences - so no SWE timer, etc. Depending on the timeline of your project this may be the prefered solution if you are considering switching from the TCAN1043.

    Eric Schott

  • Hi Eric , please send me the presentation to the email linked to the E2E profile. Thankyou so much for the suggestion made as well, I will look into it .

  • Hi Anamika,

I have emailed you the document. Please let me know on this thread if you have any further questions.
