TUSB3210 Self Power

Hello,

I found  #21 pin in TUSB3210 is Ground in the data sheet .

However,  #21 pin in the schematic  of the TUSB3210KBDPDK  user's guide, is "SELF/BUS" and

can be selected to 3.3V or GND.

Which is Correct?

We  want to use TUSB3210 with Self powered. ( 3.3V/5V is always On).

Best Regards

  • Hello,

    Datasheet is a little ambiguous,

If you want the device to be always self powered, connect terminal 21 to 3.3V.

    Regards.

    Thank you for your  reply.

I am confused, because customer had already designed the Mass production as same as data sheet.

When we use self powerd,  If #21pin of TUSB3210 were GND ( as same as DataSheet), what is the problem ?

I could not find any   discription about  "self powered " , except page 28 section 2.6.4 "USB Control register"  in the Data Sheet.

Would you please let me know more detail about #21pin ?

There are no discription about #21(Ground? Self/Bus?)  in the Fig1-1 Block diagram also.

    Sorry to bother you again,

    Best Regards

  • Hello,

If customer designed accordingly with the datasheet, everything should be ok.

The problem here is that there are some ambiguous descriptions. The implementation guide talks about "self-powered" but does not identify if the self-power configuration is for the Evaluation Module or for the device itself.

I am gathering information to   give you a better answer. Again, if they follow the datasheet it is OK.

    Regards.

  • Hello,

I have confirmed that pin#21 should be tied to GND, this will not affect to your self-powered configuration.

    Regards.
