DP83TC812S-Q1: DP83TC812S-Q1

Part Number: DP83TC812S-Q1

Hello,

can you please provide me information about current consumption for DP93TC812S if I am using SGMII interface with the following voltage rails:

VDDIO and VDDA are connected to the 3V3 and VDDMAC is connected to 1V8. All voltages will be provided from external LDOs.

VSLEEP is connected to 3V3_permanent voltage and by datasheet current consumption on this pin should be between 7 and 18 microAmpers. If I am wrong please correct me

I hope that you can find time to answer me, because I could not find those informations based on your datasheet. (There is no case with different voltages for VDDIO and VDDMAC)

Thank you in advance!

Kind regards,
Anes

  • Hello Anes,

Yes you are correct in your understanding that the current consumption on this pin is typically 7 uA with a max of 18 uA.

  • Hello Avtar,

I was asking about whole current consumption for PHY. So basically I am interested how much in total, and also how much is current consumption on every pin (VDDIO, VDDA, VDDMAC) in case that VDDIO and VDDA are connected to 3V3 and VDDMAC to 1V8.

    Thank you in advance!

    Kind regards,
    Anes

  • Hello Anes,

Please refer to Table 10-1 for a clearer breakdown of each rail's max current consumption for each voltage/mode:

So for VDDIO, VDDA, VSLEEP connected to 3V3, VDDMAC 1v8:

    4 + 95 + 2 + 4 = 105 mA

The original VSLEEP current consumption on this pin is typically 7 uA with a max of 18 uA was in regard to its state when in TC-10 sleep mode, in active mode the current consumption is 2 mA which I have included in the calculation.

    Regards,

    Avtar

  • Hello Avtar,

thank you a lot for clarification. Except this table, do you have any other table with typical values for all voltage rails, because in this table are maximum values? Also one more question, is current consumption of PHY idifferent when PHY is transmitting data compared to state when PHY is receiving data?

Once again, thank you for already provided information, and I hope that you could answer me also on those 2 questions above.

    Kind regards,
    Anes

  • Hello Anes,

You are welcome, I am glad to help.

For your first question this table below gives more of the typical values for the voltage rails but in a certain way:

"I(3V3)" rows refer to VDDA rail current consumption.

"I(VDDIO=3.3/2.5/1.8V)" rows refer to VDDIO and VDDMAC combined current consumption for the given voltage/mode.

For your second question there is no difference in current consumption when transmitting vs receiving data.

    Regards,

    Avtar
