TDP142: Number of I2C target addresses for I2C 1V8 and 3V3

Part Number: TDP142

Hello,

Datasheet May 2019 Page 3 for pin 13 (A0) we can read:

When I2C_EN = 0, leave the pin unconnected. When I2C_EN is not ‘0’, this pin will also set the TDP142 I 2C address. See Table 4. If I2C_EN = “F”, then this pin must be set to “F” or “0”

Can you explain: If I2C_EN = “F”, then this pin must be set to “F” or “0”

Does it mean that in I2C 1V8, we have no access to the 16 I2C addresses shown in table 4 (only 8 address available)?

No limitation if I2C_EN=1 (I2C 3V3)?

 Could you confirm?

Thank you

  • Hey Michael,

This is correct, when using 3.3V I2C communication there is no limitation to the I2C address selection using pins A0 and A1. However if you use 1.8V I2C communication you are limited in the address selections. You can only use the ones NOT marked with a red cross.
