DS90UB928Q-Q1: Schematic Review DS90UB928QSQ/NOPB

Part Number: DS90UB928Q-Q1

Dear Team,

I am using DS90UB928QSQ/NOPB in my design.

Please find the attached schematic.

May I know your comments.

  • Hi Hari,

I will review the schematic and return it by early next week. I saw that your design is using power over coax. The 928 is not designed for coax transmission and/or power over coax. The advertised link performance is not guaranteed when STP is not used.

    Best,

    Jack

  • Hi Jack,

    Thank you very much.

I know 928 is not designed for coax, but theoretically it should work ?,please correct me if I am wrong .

    We decided to experiment.

    May I know your thoughts.

    Regards

    HARI

  • Hi Hari,

I've attached the schematic with my annotations. The only correction I've marked is that R888 is recommended to be 10kΩ instead of 100kΩ. A pull-up of 100kΩ will delay startup of the device for much longer unless that is the intention.

The 928 can theoretically work with coax. Adding power over coax adds power supply noise which will stress the link more. If the designers are able to validate the link quality with PoC that is fine, but TI does not officially support this mode of operation.

It will be up to the designer to verify link quality over PVT (process, variation, temperature). TI has not validated/tested PoC for the 928. If the designers are able to validate PoC on 928, I would be interested in seeing the results.

    Best,

    Jack

  • Hi Jack,

    Thank you very much

Definitely I will update you regarding PoC.
