TPD3S713A-Q1: Schematic Review

Part Number: TPD3S713A-Q1

  • I haven't seen a lot of information about I-MON. The recommended value is 2.55k. Can I connect to 2.2k? Is the formula as shown in the figure? Can this PIN be floating if not used?
  • Why is the pull-up resistance of BIAS always 5.1k? Can it be other parameters, such as 4.7k?USB3.pdf
  • Hi Ray,

I haven't seen a lot of information about I-MON. The recommended value is 2.55k. Can I connect to 2.2k? Is the formula as shown in the figure? Can this PIN be floating if not used?

2.2k is okay.  The IMON pin sources a current proportional to the BUS current.  For a smaller R_IMON, you will see a lower voltage on the IMON pin for a given BUS current.  Floating the pin is okay if you don't need to monitor the BUS current.

Why is the pull-up resistance of BIAS always 5.1k? Can it be other parameters, such as 4.7k?

I'm not certain.  The designers likely chose 2.2 uF for C_BIAS after considering ESD requirements, and then 5.1k was found optimal to charge C_BIAS while also limiting current during a transient BUS event.

  • Hi Eric,

Thank you for your strong support. Do you have any other questions about the schematic diagram.

    Regards,
    Ray

  • Hi Ray.  No, that was my only feedback.
