DS90UB928Q-Q1: Peak current on VDD33

Part Number: DS90UB928Q-Q1

Hello TI team,

Do you have the peak current data of VDD33?

The application circuit is as below. Both the VDD33_A and VDDIO is 3.3V.

C4 -C13 are 4.7uF; C14 is DNI.

We see very high peak current during power on and FPD-LINK recover from interruption.

In the datasheet, the max operation current for 3.3V is only~250mA.

Could you provide your test current data for me ?

  • Hi Jian,

There are a number of large capacitors around this device for filtering, what you might be seeing is in-rush currents when board is powered.

We see very high peak current during power on and FPD-LINK recover from interruption.

What peak currents are you observing?

Does this happen on all units/boards, or isolated to a single unit?

    Regards,

    Logan

  • Hi Logan,

    Thanks for your reply!

Yes, we are following the circuit and capacitance recommendation from design manual.

During power on, we see the high in-rush current, around 250mA.

We measured the current on 2 different boards.

Do you have a reference 3V3 current data when PDB or Lock status has interrupted and FPD-LINK connection re-build ?

I would like to know the 3V3 supply current dynamic range during application.

  • Jian,

Please refer to datasheet for current spec and guidance. All operational modes should be within this, and it is specified at a IC level, not system level.

As mentioned before, the peak current you are seeing is likely from the in-rush of capacitors.

Do you have waveform of the current profile? How are you measuring this current? How is it isolated to only the IC input and not other peripherals as well?

    Regards,

    Logan
