DP83822I: DP83822IRHBR- Support with Fiber communication

Hi,

I am using DP83822IRHBR for my design which has both RJ45 and SFP communication. Does DP83822IRHBR support Fiber optic communication?

In the datasheet it is showing IEEE 802.3u compliant: 100BASE-FX, 100BASE- TX and 10BASE-Te

Hi Sandeep,

Yes, DP83822 are able to support fiber application 100Base-FX.

However, it can only support MII/RMII/RGMII to Fiber application. It does not have the converter from Copper (RJ45) to Fiber application.

Hi Hillman,

My doubt was whether DP83822IRHBR will able to use for fiber communication. or do I need to buy DP83822IF series ICs.

Hi Sandeep,

Yes, you are correct. Only DP83822IF can support fiber application.
