DP83TC812EVM-MC: RX CRC ERROR

Hi Team,

We are using dp83tc812r-q1 automotive phy with the DP83TC812EVM-MC board.

In our setup, we have the board which has the dp83tc812r-q1 (AWR2944 EVM), this EVM is connected to the media converter board followed by the PC.

We are trying to send some data packets from the PC(using the colasoft packet generator) through the media converter board to the main board, and capturing the packets in the wireshark.

In the media converter board, we are getting the CRC error for packet reception (confirmed by checking the RX_PKT_CNT_3 register, the value in this register is not zero), due to which we are not getting any data in the main EVM, I didn't see any captured data in wireshark. ideally we should not get this RX CRC error.

Is there a way to resolve this CRC error? what are the possible reasons which can cause this issue?

Another thing which I wanted to ask is, does this automotive phy dp83tc812r-q1 supports PTP protocol(HW time stamping)?

Hello Shruti,

To have a better understanding of the problem, can you send me a block diagram of the setup, which connectors are used, and which cables are used?

In regards to time stamping dp83tc812 does not support PTP protocol.

Just as a quick check can you verify that there is linkup across both connections left and right of the EVM board?

Hi Avtar,

Yes, the link is up successfully, I have checked the registers and the led's in the MC-EVM is also blinking.

Hello Shruti,

We will have to perform various loopback modes to see where the issue lies in the block diagram. Can you perform reverse loopback on the media converter?

I have already checked both the internal as well as external loopback with the setup, it's working in both the cases.

Have you tested the mdi side loopback on both sides and xMII side loopback on both sides?
