DS250DF410: Can DS250DF410 support 1G data rate?

Hi Team,

If would like to use DS250DF410 support 1.25Gbps data rate, is follow the step as below E2E thread show can also achieve it? Since it looks like only change to bypass mode.

And my second question is why need to set data rate as 10G or 25G? Will 10G or 25G data rate setting affect bypass mode performance in 1G data rate actually?

My third question is that if in CDR bypass mode then I still can set to mode2 or 3? (the EQ setting and DFE will auto adaptive at power on) Or just can use manual mode setting EQ/Gain/DFE parameter?

    Hi Roy,

    1) Yes you are correct, you can just set the bypass mode setting in register 0x1E.

    2) It is not necessary to set 10G/25G if the only use case is 1.25Gbps.  The reason this was referenced in the thread is that sometimes customers want to support both 10G/25G and 1G in a single configuration.  If the retimer can lock to the data (for example, 10G data), it will output retimed data.  If it cannot lock to the data but detects a signal, it will output the bypassed "raw" signal.

    In CDR bypass mode, setting adapt mode 2 or 3 does not have an impact.  Adapt modes are dependent on CDR lock, so no adaptation will occur in CDR bypass mode.  It is recommended to manually set EQ as needed in bypass mode.  Additionally, DFE is dependent on CDR lock, so it will not work in CDR bypass.
