DS90UB953-Q1: Back Channel CRC error Detected

Part Number: DS90UB953-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DS90UB954-Q1

Hello,

My customer has developed a camera module with onsemi sensor and TI953.

The PN of TI953 used by my customer is DS90UB953TRHBRQ1.

My customer is trying to connect this module with onsemi evaluation kit using the MARS1-TI954-GEVB board:

- this board is using the TI954 part number - DS90UB954-Q1.

Unfortunately, when connecting the AR0147 module with TI953 to onsemi evaluation kit, there is no image streaming:

The connection is as follow:

USB3 --> demo3 --> Demo3-MARS MIPI adapter board -->MARS TI954 deserializer --> Coax --> customer Module (TI953+AR0147)?

I am able to read the chip id for Ti953 / Ti954 and other serdes registers, but I can not run the test pattern for the serdes.

The error reported by onsemi's SW (Devware):

  • NACK error reading from device address 0x30 (serializer)
  • I have looked at the status registers for the TI953 device and it is reported an issue regarding the back channel:
  • 0x52 = 0x67:
  • Back Channel CRC error detected.

Please, can you tell me what means this error?

Best,

Muriel

  • Hello Muriel,

Thank you for your question. When you say there is a NACK error, do you mean that the 953 is not able to communicate using I2C? If you are able to read the device registers, there should not be any NACKs. Are you trying to run the pattern generator on the 953? The back channel CRC error means that there is an error occurring over the channel from the deserializer to the serializer. This is related to the link or connection between the two devices. Can you check all the connectors and cables being used to ensure that there is a solid connection between the devices?

    Regards,
    Darrah
