SN65LVDS386: Sample testing connection for VCC & GND.

Part Number: SN65LVDS386
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SN65LVDS387

Hi Experts

I have chosen SN65LVDS386/387(16 ch) for LVDS to LVTTL & vice versa. For initial testing purpose i have connected IC (LVDS386) with single channel LVDS i/p-1st & 2nd pin (A1A,A1B) & connect o/p-59th pin(A1Y) with CRO. Even i have connected (ENA) 60th-pin short with VCC-63rd pin(3.3V). GND-64th pin.

Q1. I want the connection was right, or any suggestion regarding above connection.

Q2. whether all VCC & GND has to connect.

Q3. Any Termination resister has to connect across.

Regards

Selvan

  • All VCC and GND pins must be connected. All inputs must have a valid voltage. Unused outputs can be left open.

  • Hi Selvan,

SN65LVDS387 is the driver and SN65LVDS386 is the receiver. For what you described above, you would want to inject a LVTTL input into A1A, which would output on A1Y/A1Z, and then on the receiver side, you would connect to A1A / A1B, which would be converted to LVTTL on the output A1Y.

You should apply power and ground for the device to work properly.

Section "11.2.2.2.1 Interconnecting Media" and Section "11.2.1.2.6 Termination Resistor" provide guidelines for the recommended termination resistors.
