TLK106: Transformer-less operation

Part Number: TLK106
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TLK110

Hello,

I am designing an Ethernet interface for a product that uses the TLK106 Ethernet PHY and I am having trouble understanding whether it supports transformer-less operation (with DC blocking capacitors instead of a transformer) or not. Neither the datasheet of the TLK106L nor that of the TLK106 mentions anything about transformer-less operation.

The SLLA327 application note refers to the transformer-less operation of the TLK110 PHY, but there is no mention to the TLK106 in this document. There is also the SLLU200 User's Guide for the TLK10xLEVM, from which I understand that transformer-less operation of the TLK106 is possible.

Could you please confirm that transformer-less operation of the TLK106 is possible under the capacitor selection guidelines provided in SLLA327 ?

Best regards,

Dimitrios Moustroufis
