DP83822I: Using TDR to detect cable faults

Part Number: DP83822I

Ethernet PHY team,

Our customer is using DP83822I in a system that checks for faults on the ethernet cable. The DP83822I has the TDR feature, and they'd like to use that to look for shorts, opens and cross-wiring on the Ethernet cable.

Looking at the datasheet, section 8.4.10.1, they can run the TDR when the link fails. Do we have example code or an app note on how they can use the TDR to look for shorts, opens and cross-wiring?

They're running this on an MCU with FreeRTOS, in case it's of interest.  They are not concerned about the driver or basic ability to read and write registers.

Thanks,
Darren
