TUSB1104EVM: Problem support

Part Number: TUSB1104EVM

Hi ,

The customer has the following problems when using EVM test, please help to answer them.

Question 1: If JMP 3 and 4 are set to automatic AEQ, the configuration options of JMP9 and JMP10 are invalid?

Question2: If only one data channel is connected, for example, the hard disk is connected to CRX1 and CTX1, JMP3 needs to short-circuit 3 and 4 to make CRX1-> SSRX1 and SSTX1-> Is CTX1 a configuration channel?

On the contrary, when connected to CRX2 and CTX2, JMP3 needs to short-circuit 1 and 2 to make CRX2-> SSRX2 and SSTX2-> Is CTX2 a configuration channel?

Question 3:

The customer's test environment:

1). Notebook Lightning 4 interface + typeC data cable 1 + TUSB1104EVM + typeC data cable 2 + solid state mobile hard drive;

2). The mobile hard disk can reach 10Gbps by connecting the lightning interface with typeC data cable 1 alone;

3).typeC data line 2 does not contain high-speed Tx2 difference line and Rx2 difference line, which is a single channel data line;

If the typeC data cable 2 is connected to the hard disk and there is an impedance change in the middle of this path, can TUSB1104EVM make the whole path reach 10Gbps by adjusting the balance parameters?

Thanks~

  • Hi Rhea,

    Question 1: If JMP 3 and 4 are set to automatic AEQ, the configuration options of JMP9 and JMP10 are invalid?

    You are correct. When you have AEQ enabled, the CRX EQ settings are invalid. This would be JMP9 and 10 like you said.

    Question2: If only one data channel is connected, for example, the hard disk is connected to CRX1 and CTX1, JMP3 needs to short-circuit 3 and 4 to make CRX1-> SSRX1 and SSTX1-> Is CTX1 a configuration channel?

    You need to set the correct config lane when you only use one data channel. Think of the "config lane" as the active lane when in USB3.1x1 mode (one channel). This becomes a data and configuration channel when used in USB3.2x2 mode, which uses both data channels on the 1104:

    If the typeC data cable 2 is connected to the hard disk and there is an impedance change in the middle of this path, can TUSB1104EVM make the whole path reach 10Gbps by adjusting the balance parameters?

    The 1104 cannot compensate for an impedance change. You need to make sure the differential signal maintains 90ohm differential impedance.

    Can you describe what the problem is that you are having? So far I see your questions but I'm not sure what issue you're running into.

    Best,

    Shane

  • Hi Rhea,

    Were you able to fix the issue?

    If you no longer need support, I can resolve this thread.

    Best,
