TCAN1146-Q1: LIMP pin

Part Number: TCAN1146-Q1

Hi Team,

1. The watchdog of the TCAN1146-Q1 uses the LIMP pin to output the watchdog abnormal state, so when the watchdog wants to reset the MCU, the LIMP outputs a high logic signal, right?

2. Can LIMP control the Reset pin of the MCU via an NPN FET?

Regards,

Ivy

  • Hi Ivy,

    1. Yes. INH pin can be configured as LIMP function on TCAN1144/1146, if the Watchdog times out, the device by default turns on the LIMP home function.

    2. Yes, it can. A more conventional watchdog reset is configuring the watchdog trigger action to pulse INH output (13h[1:0] = 00b). Doing so would disable any voltage regulators that are enabled by this signal, forcing a power cycle of the system.
