DS90UB941AS-Q1: PDB driver strength choose

Part Number: DS90UB941AS-Q1

Hello TI team,

The 941 Datasheet mentions that the maximum PDB PIN is 100uA, but the GPIO configurable range of MCU is 2mA~16mA.

Q1: it looks like 2mA > 100uA. Will this damage PDB PIN? I think a lot of MCU's GPIO output is mA grade.
Q2: we found that if configured as 16mA, we can enhance the anti-interference ability of PDB. Is there any risk to PDB from 16mA?

  • Hello,

It is not recommended to operate outside of the device's specifications. I would suggest adding some form of current control between the two devices (i.e. a resistor, RC circuit, etc.) if you intend to drive the MCU GPIO above the 941's PDB pin input high current spec.

    Best,

    Nikolas

  • Hello

    There may be some misunderstandings.

The actual current depends on the load side, not the source side, right?
For example, for 0.5A load, I can choose 3A or 5A DCDC convert.

So, if PDB(load) requirement is max 100ua, then I understand that we can also choose source as 2mA or 16mA,right?

Yes, you can choose source current as 2mA or 16mA as long as you limit the current before the load such that the PDB load requirement does not exceed the maximum 100uA.
