Hello E2E team,
Can TSD05 TVS Diode sustain EFT transients of 40/80A?
The Datasheet did not mention EFT specifications, and I would like to confirm from the product team about the EFT.

Hi Neet,
TSD05 can sustain 80A for EFT. Please let me know if you have additional questions.

Thank you for confirming McKenzie,
One more followup query:
With 19pF of capacitance, we can use TSD05 for USB 2.0 Full Speed & Low Speed use cases, right? (12Mbps)
I did not see maximum capacitance value in the datasheet. I am surprised, how well speced TSD05 is yet, the datasheet has fairly limited details on key specifications. Any reason for this?
Hi Neet,
Yes, 19pF should be okay for speeds up to 12Mbps. This is an app note we have on protection for USB interfaces (link).
I'm not sure the reasoning behind the specs. It is not a discussion that I am involved in.
Best,
McKenzie
Thank you for confirming,
Any update on what can be the maximum capacitance of this TVS Diode?
We would like to know the limits & how much might it affect the SI/Eye diagram of our USB 2.0 FS connections.
Hi Neet,
Technically, the max capacitance is a TI internal spec. But we do have the temperature vs capacitance plot in the datasheet that shows the below:
The device will reach around 20.4pF at 150C (highest temp). Accounting for variation and safeguarding, the max spec would be close to 25pF.
Best,
McKenzie
