TUSB1002A: If two Redrivers (TUSB1002ARGER) are strung together, what are the lengths they can support at the front and back?

Part Number: TUSB1002A

Hi

If two Redrivers (TUSB1002ARGER) are strung together, what are the lengths they can support at the front and back?

CPU----1----->TUSB1002A---2--->TUSB1002A---3--->USB connector

1 and 2 and 3 lengths they can support?

  • Hi,

    Each 1002A can support a max of 15.3dB of loss on the RX channels.

    This means each length (1, 2, 3) should have a loss no greater than 15.3dB. You need to find the loss/inch of your PCB trace to get an accurate length estimate.

    A few things to keep in mind:

    1. Your CPU needs to compensate for the loss coming from the first 1002A. If your CPU cannot compensate 15.3dB then length 1 will need to be shorter.

    2. The USB cable attached to the connector will add loss to the signal path. I recommend keeping length 3 shorter than 15.3dB to account for this loss.

    Best,

    Shane
