DP83867IR: Compatabilty check with DP83865 phy

HI ,

In our previous design, we utilized the DP83865 PHY chip, which functioned effectively for our purposes.

However, we recently replaced it with the DP83867IR PHY chip as a one-to-one substitution.

Unfortunately, the new PHY chip is not responding as expected.

Please find attached the schematics for both versions. Kindly review them and advise if any modifications are necessary.

1) Can you confirm if the PHY address connection in the new schematic design matches that of the existing design?

2) In the new design, we have added 33-ohm resistors in RX_D0 to RX_D7, which are required for this chip?

Hi Pavithran,

If you are looking for PHY_ID in the new design. The strapping is correct.
33 ohms on the MAC interface is not required for DP83867.

Hi,

Thank you for your quick response.

We have replaced the PHY chip from DP83865 with the DP83867IR chip.

Kindly confirm if the 33-ohm resistors on the MAC interface (TX_CLK, GTX_CLK, PHY_CLK, TX0-TX7, TX_ER, TX_EN, RX_ER, RX_DV, RX0-RX7) are not required for the DP83867IR chip.

Also, please confirm if any resistor value changes are needed for the new PHY chip design (DP83867IR).

We don't want any pull up resistor and decoupling caps on the MDI lines.
