DP83825I: Transformer center tap connection

Part Number: DP83825I
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS2373

Hi, expert.

I'm working on a project that uses the DP83825I and TPS2373 (an 802.3bt Type 4 device). I'm a bit confused about the connection of the device-side center tap on the transformer.

The DP83825I datasheet offers a recommended circuit, but its device-side center tap connection differs from the TPS2373 EVM. My understanding is that the DP83825I circuit serves a filtering purpose, and the TPS2373 EVM circuit focuses on impedance matching. According to this thread (e2e.ti.com/.../bob-smith-termination), the connection might depend on the specific PHY application.

So, I'm wondering which circuit is preferable to follow: the DP83825I circuit or the Bob Smith termination used in the TPS2373 EVM?
