SN65LVDS3487: Attenuation of the output differential signals from SN65LVDS3487 while connecting the receiver electronics

Hi Team,

My customer is using SN65LVDS3487 IC in their design. They are seeing attenuation of the output differential signals from SN65LVDS3487 while connecting the receiver electronics ( Load ). In no load condition the output differential signals swing is +/- 3.3 V for a LVCMOS compatible (3.3 V) input signal - can you help confirm if this is okay. Also, please help provide a solution for the above issue.

This is OK. An LVDS driver outputs a current of ±3.5 mA and is supposed to generate a voltage drop of 350 mV over the 100 Ω termination.

Hi Jash,

Ensure that the receiver is 100-ohm terminated. The steady-state common-mode output voltage should be 1.2V (typical) with a +/- 340 mV (typical) swing.
