TCAN1146-Q1: Watchdog timeout no response

Part Number: TCAN1146-Q1

Hi Team,

Customer is using TCAN1146-Q1 with below setting:

  • WD_CONFIG_1   0x51
  • WD_CONFIG_2   0x80

  • WD_INPUT_TRIG  write 0xFF

But after power on, no kicking the dog. Even timeout, there is no RST.

Is anything wrong with the configure? Looking forward to your comments.

Thank you!

Marc

  • Hi Marc,

We've assigned this thread to one of our CAN experts who should get back to you by tomorrow.

  • Hi Marc,

After the device is powered on and configured in the way described here, the watchdog should be active and running in timeout mode with a timer of around 1.5 seconds. If the system misses a watchdog trigger 1 time (count configured by WD_ERR_CNT_SET) then the transceiver will set the WD interrupt flag in the INT_1 register. No further watchdog-related action will be taken by the transceiver until the interrupt is cleared and the watchdog trigger is written to again or the watchdog configuration is changed.

What action the customer expecting during this test when the watchdog is not triggered appropriately? If a reset action such as a pulse on the INH signal is desired then this should be configured using the WD_ACT field in the WD_CONFIG_1 register.

    Regards,
    Eric Schott
