holla,
Can you configure the DP83869HM as a media converter only via a pin strapping?
Application: RJ45/1000BASE-T <- -> 1000 BASE-X/SFP
The information I have read is contradictory.
best regards
Martin

Hi Martin,
Yes you can, setting the OPMODE strap pins to: 100 sets the 869 into 1000Base-T to 1000Base-X mode. Could you show me what information you read that created doubt? Is there a TI document that is ambiguous or misleading? Please let me know so that I can take note for the next revision of said document.
Regards,
Alvaro
Hi Martin,
Thank you for pointing this out. Please let me confirm this in lab. I will have an answer for you by Monday at the latest.

Alvaro
Hi Martin,
Thank you for your patience. I was able to configure the DP83869HMEVM into 1000Base-T to 1000Base-X Media convertor mode using only the straps. I performed a throughput test and saw no packet errors.
Useful Registers:
In lab I noticed that the fiber link partner would say link is up, but Reg 0xC01[2] would say link is down. Re-plugging the SFP Module in and out did the trick to get the 869 to link up in fiber.

Alvaro
