DP83867E: Strap resistors of RX_D1/3 at RGMII

Hi team,

When DP83867E is used as RGMII, strap resistors of RX_D1/3 pins are NOT necessary?

The datasheet and app note(SNLA258A) state strap resistors are needed at SGMII mode. But it doesn't mention at the case of  RGMII.

    Hi Shota,

    Your understanding is correct, RX_D1 & RX_D3 are not strap pins, but there is a note in the data sheet saying that in SGMII mode they should match the strap resistors place on RX_D0 & RX_D2 respectively. 

    This is because these pins are used in SGMII mode, and we want to keep the impedance on the traces matched.

    To answer your question simply: yes, the strap resistors on RX_D1 & RX_D3 are not needed when using RGMII. They are only necessary when using SGMII.
